about.
Set inside a contemporary Arctic research outpost, Encounter at North Point invites families to stabilize the station’s magnetic field by capturing roaming electrical orbs and depositing them into matching-colored containment units. The core loop is simple and replayable—approach, capture, carry, deliver—while the world breathes around you: frost blooms on windows, consoles flicker, aurora hues ripple through the room, and thunder rattles the glass. The aesthetic leans into 1980s analog science—knobs, dials, CRT glow—blended with luminous winter atmosphere for a look that’s nostalgic yet fresh. Sparse voice prompts from the station’s system guide players without interrupting flow, keeping the experience open-ended for dwell time, repeat play, and seasonal longevity through January and February.
director’s statement.
“I build immersive worlds that invite curiosity first and mastery second. With Encounter at North Point, I’m channeling my love for 1980s horror and analog sci-fi—the tactile consoles, humming fluorescents, and flicker of CRTs—into a gentle, family-forward experience about calming a volatile environment together. The endless loop isn’t about winning; it’s about presence: noticing how light, sound, and subtle “field reactions” reward movement and cooperation. We’re honored to feature Kathleen Merritt as our marquee voice talent—her grounded, resonant performance as the station’s system voice adds a sense of place, care, and quiet authority that anchors the installation. My goal is an atmosphere that feels authentic and alive: a place you might linger, return to, and remember.” – Maziar Ghaderi
