talks.

Occasionally I’m asked to join a panel or give a lecture on my artistic practice. Here are some of the more interesting ones.

World Stage Design

As part of World Stage Design 2025 at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy, I presented two talks exploring the convergence of scenography, digital media, and cultural storytelling. The first, “Intangible Culture Reimagined: Immersion Across Borders”, focused on best practices in immersive design, cultural remediation, and ethical engagement with heritage practices.

The second, “Minimalist Scenography and the Illusion of Depth”, showcased my use of scrim materials, projection mapping, and narrative environments. Maziar was joined by international thought leaders including Aby Cohen (President of OISTAT and curator of the Brazil Pavilion at the Prague Quadrennial), Hadi Damien (producer and curator of Beirut Pride, working at the intersection of performance and human rights), and Zuzana Hudek (award-winning theatre artist and scenographer exploring ephemeral scenography and sensory-based dramaturgy).

MIT Media Lab

I was invited to speak about my artistic practice as part of an esteemed panel of performance directors that work with new media technologies such as wearables and motion capture,

This conference was hosted by Hacking Arts, which took place at Harvard University campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Associated Designers of Canada

Since 1965, the ADC has been dedicated to representing the interests of set, costume, lighting, projection and sound designers working in the live performing arts in Canada.

Alongside Amelia Scott, Andrea Lundy, Ian Garrett, and Matthew Ragan, I discussed how integrating instruction on digital tools can prepare the next generation with artistic and critical perspectives on new technology and creation.
