Title: Digital Media Intern – Unity Developer (Immersive Installations)

Wage: $22.00 per hour
Hours: 35 hours/week
// About the Role
We are seeking a Digital Media Intern with a background in computer programming and a strong interest in Unity development for immersive, interactive experiences. This internship is part of a funded initiative to train youth in emerging digital skills through real-world, high-profile public installations and exhibitions.
As part of our creative technology team, you’ll help develop and install a series of immersive projects for large-scale events, including:
A full-body interactive floor game for a prominent Ontario children’s museum
Experiential media activations for TIFF Festival Street (50th anniversary)
A flagship install for Mayor Olivia Chow’s Night of the Arts at the Carlu
Live, interactive experiential installations at The Well in downtown Toronto
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career Unity programmer to deepen their skills through hands-on learning while contributing to meaningful, public-facing media art experiences.
// Key Responsibilities
Support development of Unity-based interactive installations, games, and visual environments
Collaborate with artists, designers, and developers to prototype and deploy installations
Implement sensor-based inputs (e.g., motion tracking, OSC/TUIO data) for audience-responsive design
Participate in regular creative and technical meetings
Assist with on-site setup and calibration of immersive environments
Document code and contribute to development pipelines and tools
Added plus: contribute to visual/media design elements (if applicable to your skillset)
// What We’re Looking For
Currently enrolled in (or recent grad of) a Computer Programming, Game Design, or Media Arts program
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship
Intermediate experience with Unity and C# programming
Passion for immersive media, creative technology, or experiential storytelling
Curiosity and drive to learn in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Bonus: familiarity with OSC, Arduino, TouchDesigner, or projection mapping
Bonus: experience designing or deploying public-facing installations or games
Preferred: Based in the Toronto area and available to work on-site when needed
